It's been a long day. [He glances at her as they get to his door, dropping the wards first and then unlocking the door.] You should worry less.
[He steps aside for Nancy, but gives her a look for that wolf. She can summon him again when she leaves, but Eames isn't having something that's been acting so hostile toward him in his home.]
Okay, yeah, but I have it on good authority I'm considered a 'mom friend'. Which means I'm going to worry regardless.
[And she's goign to worry at the look Eames gives her wolf. She presses her lips together, and gives the wolf a look.] I'll be fine, you can wait here. Stand guard, you can do that, can't you?
[The wolf made a small noise of irritation, but lowered his head for Nancy to pet, which she did eagerly before following Eames into his place.]
[As Nancy sets her wolf on guard duty and goes inside, Eames turns to his fox. He cups its muzzle in both hands and murmurs a soft thanks, a moment passes between them and it dissipates into gold lights that flicker and fade away.]
[Right. Time for a cup of tea. He's not taking any nonsense from Nancy he's going straight to the kitchen.]
[She has no problems coming into his apartment and following him into the kitchen. She only stops to say hello to her best fuzzy friend that is not her wolf.] Hi, Boxer! How are you, friend?
[He's a sleepy boy, but he perks up when he sees Nancy and comes on over, lazily nosing at her for attention while Eames puts the kettle on and leans against the counter for a little stability.]
What a handsome boy. [She's happy to give him all the affection he wants. He's a good boy, and tea sounds amazing. She looks up at Eames every once in a while to see how he's getting on.]
I'd offer to try healing you, but magic's got a way of backfiring on me here
[He says it with a teasing lilt as he gets a pair of mugs and the box of teabags down from the cupboard. Look at how easily he did that! Could an injured man get things down with no trouble like that? Certainly not a man with a deep wound in his chest, he wouldn't be able to do it.]
Pan wanted blood and he didn't like my first offer.
[The kettle pops, time to brew some tea. He's explaining it all kind of absently, like it's a boring anecdote about the mundane shit he did at work or something.]
[Eames has quickly decided he doesn't care, making a vague noise of the "oh that's nice" kind and opts not to ask any more questions.]
[His magic though is clearly not at full strength, as the milk shakes and wobbles as it levitates to him from the fridge. At this point, there's blood seeping through the hasty bandage he put on earlier too, spotting starting to show on the front of his shirt.]
[Gosh is anyone EVER going to let her talk about how great Bill is? Without giving her a look or changing the subject or any sort of hidden anything about anything?
Oh. So that's a no. Great to know no one wants to hear her sing her abuser's praises.
The rattling of the milk gets her attention and she watches as Eames struggles with the simple task. Seeing this, she's back on her feet, and takes the milk from the air to set it down properly on the table. It's then that she sees the blood.]
[Boxer looks up when Nancy stands, aware the mood's changed and a little concerned as he looks between Nancy and Eames and follows Nancy, but Eames is pretty chill. He pauses to hook a finger in his collar so he can take a look at what's happening under his shirt, it's not great but that can wait until he's finished making this tea. Eames sighs and collects the milk from where Nancy set it down, manually since it's that kind of day apparently, and gets about finishing up these cups of tea.]
[He'd love to call Boxer over, lean down to give him a few reassuring pats, but honestly he's a little worried if he bends over right now he'll have a dizzy spell and fall over. And that just won't do. God it sure is wild how much of your body's protests you can ignore thanks to adrenaline.]
[With a sigh, he gestures for Nancy to take one of the mugs and stays as he is, leaning against the counter. And then holds up his hand for Nancy to see a cut across his palm, one of those traditional places for blood rituals.]
That was the first offer, but unfortunately negotiations didn't go my way, so... [He taps his chest.] The exit fee ended up higher than I'd have liked.
[She gives him an arch look over the top of her tea. It's too hot to drink, so she touches her finger to the side of it and scrunches up her nose in concentration. Satisfied that she has cooled it, she takes a sip.]
[The fact he doesn't have a quick reply to that says a lot about how shit he's doing right now, but honestly he's tired and bleeding and sore. It takes him a moment to realise Nancy has no idea where the bathroom even is and then he calls out the directions, luckily they're fairly simple. It's a spacious house, but there aren't many rooms.]
[Back in the living room, Eames takes a sip of his tea and then sets it down on the coffee table where it's followed shortly by his shirt. By the time Nancy's back, he'll be murmuring softly to and petting the dog who's got his chin propped up on Eames' thigh to give him the Sad Eyes at all that blood and all those noises he's making.]

[Scoff-law Nancy Bellrose, that's what she was.]
Will you at least tell me what happened?

Only way to get out of that labyrinth though.

[So he was injured. She frowns as she purses her lips, looking quite worried.] At least you're out. Your fox help?

[So obviously it's not a big deal.]

William just showed up. [The men in her life tend to do that.] He's a sweetheart, though.

your turn to wait two weeks for this
[She shakes her head as she takes the mug.]
Is it...? I mean... Fae blood...?
i will always wait for u
[He knows she's asking if it was a special price but also Nancy please.]
banjo strumming intensifies

You know what I'm asking.

[Eames shrugs a shoulder and takes his mug to go park himself in an armchair. Pay no attention to the way he groans in pain when he sits down.]
Seemed more about being willing to pay some arbitrary price to leave than anything. Must really want to leave to stab yourself in the chest.

Jesus. Like they don't even bother trying to make sense here.
Can I help, Eames? You look pale.
no subject
There's a first aid kit in the bathroom.
[Hope Nancy's ready to help him patch up a nasty stab wound in his chest. It's bleeding a lot.]
no subject
[She sets her tea aside and immediately goes to retrieve the kit. Hopefully, he's good at directions.]
